SARENTO'S SEASON OPENER RACE REPORTS

Surf Ski Story - By Eric Rohozinski

Another year begins for MCKC. From 1990 to 1994 it was only Maui Kayak club, with its first race in November with 8 paddlers. In 1995 we then formed Maui Canoe and Kayak Club with about 17 OC1's and 12 kayaks. Today we had 78 OC1's and 11 kayaks for a total of 89 paddlers and not to forget the new stand up division that we have. Any way the surf ski story for this race.

NEWS FLASH! Leilani's restaruant is now operated by TS Restaurants therefore ALL alcoholic beverages need to be purchased inside restaurant and we are unable to provide alcohol. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with their new rules at this time.

Registration for those of you who have pre-registered online, you will still need to check-in at the 'pre-registration' table on race day.

Registration will be outside of Leilani's Restaurant in Kaanapali from 8:00-9:30 AM. Please allocate plenty of time - arrive early as parking will be limited.

Start Time approximately 9:50 AM for Paddle Boards, 10:00 AM for the Long Course and 10:10 AM for the Short Course with a mandatory race meeting and blessing before race begins.

Paddle Boards will start and finish on the beach in front of Leilani's Restaurant. Details TBD on race day.

Short Course starts - TBD on race day due to weather conditions

Long Course starts - TBD on race day due to weather conditions

Race Finish between bouy and beach in front of Leilani's Restaurant with awards ceremony to follow inside.

◦ Just a reminder, parking is limited so please plan ahead.

Leashes are mandatory! NO LEASH NO RACE!
